Modafinil Side Effects

While Modafinil has some common side effects, generally side effects from using it (or any other medication) cannot always be anticipated. Thus, you should let your Doctor know immediately if any side effects are particularly strange or troubling.

Here are some common Modafinil side effects - Loss of appetite, loss of muscle strength, lung problems, nausea, nervousness, anxiety, depression, diarrhea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache, prickling or tingling feeling, runny nose, sore throat. Again, if any of the side effects seem particularly strange, troubling or severe, be sure to let your Doctor know immediately.

Additionally, there are certain medication that may show increased effects or toxicity if taken with Modafinil, and similarly, some medications may reduce the effectiveness of modafinil. As such, be sure to let your Doctor know of any other medications (prescribed or over-the-counter) that you are currently taking.

If you have high blood pressure, liver or kidney problems, or a history of psychosis or drug abuse, Modafinil should be used with caution. It should also be avoided by persons with certain types of heart disease, such as mitral valve prolapse. If you've ever had a heart problem, be sure to let your Doctor know (before using Modafinil).
